PrePower CanSkate

Skate Canada Pre-Power CanSkate is for skaters 3 years of age and older who are not ready to enter hockey or ringette or are a beginner player with limited skating skills. The program is filled with fundamental “learn to skate” skills taught by certified Skate Canada Coach and Coach 2 Hockey and supported by trained Program Assistants with a goal to enable skaters to pursue the ice sport of their choice with more confidence. The program is separate from the regular CanSkate Program ice time and skaters in PrePower CanSkate are encouraged to wear their equipment.

Offered Sunday 10:15-11:00 in Hazelridge, the program includes a warmup, lesson time, group activity/development time and cool down. Skater focus will be on all skills contained within Stages 1-4 of the CanSkate program to build balance, control, and agility. Stations and circuits will be used for teaching and practicing new skills and reinforcing good technique and habits.

We incorporate of teaching aids and props and music throughout the session to help create interest, engagement, and development, particularly for our youngest skaters.

Skaters may be placed into a group structure at their appropriate skill level. Coach /Program Assistants may adjust skills to match interest of group. Sticks will not be used at all stations and may not be used at every session and are only to be used at the Coach’s direction.
